- By bus
If you wish to travel by bus, there are several private and government buses from Port Blair that you can opt for. It is also one of the most economical ways to travel as well. Bus fare starts from Rs. 25 per person, with ten stops. However, you must keep in mind that the number of buses could be much higher and therefore there is an issue with seats. You must board the bus from Aberdeen Bus Stand to ensure you get a seat. This can be a good option if you only travel on a strict budget. Otherwise, these buses will be old and not too active. They are prone to issues like breaking down or stopping halfway, so keep that in mind.

Private vehicles or cabs are also available, like Swift Dzire and Ertiga, the most preferred means of communication for tourists here. They are comfortable and take over half an hour to reach the beach. However, it would help if you always prebooked the cab to avoid any last-minute hassle. Also, by prebooking, the price of the cab remains within a limit. Cabs can be less available during peak seasons, so prebooking is always recommended.

The best time to visit Wandoor Beach
This beach is an all-year-round destination; technically, you can visit any time of the year. The winter season is comfortable here, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 34 degrees. From October to March, most tourists visit the island. Because of the weather during this time, it is ideal for beach activities and exploring the place. Places to visit near Wandoor Beach
Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park
This is one of the major attractions near Wandoor Beach and is a popular destination for nature lovers. This park is located at a one-minute walking distance from the beach. After the dangerous Tsunami of 2004, this park remained closed for a long time. But after it reopened, it became tremendously popular. The main attractions here are the breeding of sea turtles and the restoration of corals in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Chartered boats are available at the park, another exciting activity for visitors. You can enjoy the boat ride and visit the nearby islands as well.
Jolly Buoy Island
This beautiful island is near the beach; you will get boats from the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park to reach it. It is around 25 km away from the Wandoor Beach. There are boats from the Wandoor Jetty as well. You need tickets for the speed boats from the IPNT office in Bengali Club, and the charge is Rs. 750 per person. Also, it would help if you had a forest permit to visit Jolly Buoy, which is Rs—50 additional charges. If you are carrying a camera, there is an additional charge of Rs. 25. Also, it is possible to prebook the tickets to reach the island if you contact the appropriate tour operators and DMCs.
The boats usually return by 3 pm, and there are also glass-bottomed boats to see the coral reefs here. The coral reefs here are of different colours, like red and blue, along with sponge corals. You can even see life within these corals, especially zebrafish. Also, activities like snorkelling and scuba diving are popular here, so you can even try that. The Jolly Buoy Island is open for 6 months, and then for the next 6 months, it remains closed to protect and preserve coral reefs. During those 6 months, alternatively, the Red Skin Island remains open.
Red Skin Island
This is another island almost similar to the Jolly Buoy Island, and it remains open for 6 months when the Jolly Buoy Island remains closed. And later, when that reopens, this one remains closed. Here, you can also enjoy the same coral reefs and crystal-clear water. However, similar to the Jolly Buoy here, the boat rate is the same as Rs. 750, and you need permission from the forest office to enter the island. The permit would cost Rs. 50, and an additional Rs—25 charge for the camera.
Viper Island
